Mary C. Green

Mary C. Field-Green, age 84 of Canton, formerly of Plymouth, Michigan, born in Minden, West Virginia on October 4,1933; passed away peacefully on October 22, 2017. Dear mother of Sandy (Aaron) Machnik, Lance (Dianne) Field and Scott (Adriana) Field; proud grandmother of Megan (Mark) Munson, Nicholas Field (fiancée Jessica), Michael Machnik, Tiago Field and Otavio Field; great-grandmother of Sophia and Elijah Munson; sister of John Grandetti. Mary was preceded in death by her second husband Al Green and her first husband Gene Field, sister Elizabeth Field and brother Steve Grandetti. Mary enjoyed spending time with her family immensely and always made sure all were welcome. Mary was in perpetually good spirits and was one of the kindest, gentlest person one could know. Mary particularly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and always made sure the holidays at grandma’s house were magical. A close second to her grandchildren were her dogs which she held on her lap at any opportunity. Mary always enjoyed working and reinvented herself a number of times. While working at Sanders in downtown Detroit. Mary was noticed for her efforts to serve customers and was offered a job as an administrative assistant where she learned to type and take shorthand at an amazing pace. After again being noticed for her dedication, Mary was offered and accepted the offer to be trained as a stock broker; she worked her way up to the manager of the municipal bond department. After changes at the company Mary decided to try something different and began working for the EPA as an assistant where she continued to take classes and learn new computer skills. Mary worked until age 70. In State 10 AM until the 11 AM Funeral Mass on Friday, November 3 at St. Joseph Catholic Village Church, 3430 Dover St. Dexter, MI 48130. Entombment following at Michigan Memorial Park Cemetery, 32163 W Huron River Dr., Flat Rock, MI 48134. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Great Lakes Hospice, 900 Cooper Street, Jackson, MI 49202. Envelopes will be available at the church.
