Winnifred V. Good

Winnifred, known as “Wynn”, was the daughter of Mary Alice (Ingalls) Swanson and Albin E. Swanson. She was born in Colton, South Dakota on May 20, 1925. Wynn passed away at the age of 99 years, on September 25, 2024, at her home in Plymouth Michigan. Wynn was predeceased by her husband of 79 years, K. Raymond Good (Ray), in December of 2023. Wynn is survived by her brother Richard Swanson & sister-in law Lita of Greensboro NC, sister and brother-in-law Doris (Good) and Al Pishko of Allen Park, MI as well as brother and sister-in-law Russel & Alice Good of Trenton, MI. Wynn was raised in South Dakota by her parents, until summer 1937 when her father, seeking better economic opportunity, brought Wynn and her mother to southwest Detroit. The family grew when Wynn’s brother Richard was born July 18, 1939. After arriving in Michigan, Wynn attended middle school at Webster School and then attended and graduated High School at Western High School, both in Detroit. She worked for several firms as a secretary. Preston Methodist Church was the spiritual and social center of Wynn’s teen and young adult years. After meeting K. Raymond Good at a New Years Eve party at the church, her adult life began to unfold. Ray was an avid suitor and before long they were engaged and then wed on June 2, 1944. This union lasted 79 years until Ray’s passing in December of 2023. Together they settled in Dearborn Heights Michigan and created a family of 3 sons. Wynn was predeceased in August 2013 by eldest son, Kenneth A. Good (Mary) of Livonia, MI. Surviving sons are Craig R. Good of Marblehead Ohio and Brian D. Good (Holly) of Plymouth, MI. Wynn was a strong supporter of all the boys’ interests and activities. She made a beautiful home for them, particularly enjoying flower gardening in her little spare time. She also pursued Golf, Bowling and stated fishing was a favorite hobby. She was active in United Methodist Women, and Jay-cets , (Jaycees Womens’ group) as well as all 4 Methodist Churches to which she belonged throughout her life. Wynn helped build a successful business, along with Ray, as Distributors of Better Made Potato Chips. She oversaw office and warehouse operations for the company and Ray would credit her often as having been the backbone of the organization. A much-deserved retirement found them living in Algonac on the St. Clair River, actively serving the community thru Trinity UMC, enjoying boating, entertaining and traveling for many years. Wynn delighted in the antics and activities of her 8 grandchildren,10 great grandchildren and will be missed by many nieces and nephews and their families. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 2 2024, Family will receive friends at 11:00 AM, and the Service will begin at 11:30 with luncheon to follow at the church at Plymouth First United Methodist Church, 45201 North Territorial Road, Plymouth, MI 48170 Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, a Non Profit providing fishing and boat riding experiences to Children, Adults and Veterans with disabilities; 424 Smith Street, Algonac, MI 48001, online at www.nolimitsfishing.org; or the charity of your choice.
