It’s with great sadness and heavy hearts we announce that Art Joseph, surrounded by his loving family, passed away on Monday, November 6, 2023. Art was the beloved husband of Mary Ann Joseph to whom he was married for 40 years, and the proud father of Melissa Joseph, Nicholas Joseph, Victoria (Joe) Abdelnour, devoted grandfather of Brett (Carley) Joseph, Olivia and Sophia Abdelnour, brother of Ricky (Denise) Crowley and son of the late Rick and Laura Crowley. Art was also deeply loved and will be greatly missed by his many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nephews, nieces, and great nephews and nieces as well as countless lifelong friends and extended family. Art was born on February 28, 1950, and grew up in Taylor, Michigan with his parents and brother. He was a talented drummer who kept his drumsticks beating through every phase of his life. Art was a proud veteran who bravely served his country during the Viet Nam war. He was a member the Artillery unit and later became one of the army cooks which sparked his talent and passion for cooking that he carried into his civilian life long after his military service. After his time in the army, Art returned home and pursued his musical talent by joining the Royal Lancers, a drum and Bugle Corp, where he played the bass drum and competed in many marching band competitions. Later in his life, Art reunited with the lifelong friends he made there and resumed marching in exhibition performances. While sharing his musical talent, Art devoted his work life to what ultimately became a long career in coffee sales. His charismatic personality and authenticity led to 30 successful years in the business, which ended when he retired early to care for his mother before her passing. Art’s life was defined by his great character, integrity, humility, humor, generosity, and unconditional love for his family and friends. He could always be counted on and never wavered in his commitment to his family, friends, and country. Art’s affections also extended to his beloved Bella to whom he was a devoted dog dad for ten years. Over the course of his life, Art enjoyed the companionship of 17 dog buddies and as a veteran, he came to understand their value even more. Because of Art’s love for dogs and his respect for those veterans who came home with physical and psychological wounds, his family has chosen to support K9s for Veterans.
