Arthur Richard Kelley, known to all as Dick, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2026, at Angela Hospice in Livonia, Michigan, at the age of 81. Dick was born on April 19, 1945, in Detroit, Michigan, to Art and Betty Kelley. As the oldest of four siblings, he cherished hosting Christmas Eve dinners, a tradition the whole family loved and still fondly remembers. He spent 34 dedicated years working at Ford Motor Company, where his steady presence and loyalty left a lasting impression. At home, he was rarely still— especially in his garage, where he was always fixing, building, planting trees, or working on a project. It was easy to picture him there in his familiar denim shirt, music playing loudly from that old boombox, completely focused and content, happiest tinkering away. Whether watching the Red Wings, boating on Lake Charlevoix, or camping with family, those were some of his favorite times. More than anything, he loved being outside— always finding something to do, tending to his yard or staying busy around the house. Above all, Dick was a devoted family man. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of nearly 58 years, Nancy, whom he deeply loved and missed. He is survived by his children and their spouses: Kevin and Julie, Scott and Sandy, Lori, and Tricia and Rob. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Jordan, Brendan, Quinn, Landon, Claire, Grace, Emma, Chase, and Caden, each of whom brought him immense joy. He treasured longtime friendships with several couples who raised their families alongside his own and was always the first to lend a hand when someone needed it. Dick will be remembered for his steady presence, his hardworking spirit, and his deep love for his family. Visitation will take place on Thursday, May 7, 2026, from 4 to 8 PM at Vermeulen-Sajewski Funeral Home, 46401 Ann Arbor Road West, (between Sheldon and Beck) Plymouth. The Funeral Mass will take place on Friday, May 8, 2026. Dick will lie in state at 11 AM, followed by the Mass at 11:30 AM at Saint Kenneth Catholic Church, 14951 North Haggerty Road, Plymouth.
