David Lawrence Lauderbaugh

Lauderbaugh, David Lawrence, Age 74, from Canton, Michigan passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Sunday, January 22, 2017. David was born January, 18, 1943 to Lawrence and Marion in Flint, Michigan. He obtained a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Wayne State University and enjoyed his job as an Electrical Engineer for over 25 years with Detroit Edison. In 1965, David met the love of his life, Charlotte Gail Lauderbaugh. They married in 1967 at the First Baptist Church in Davison, Michigan. On March 10, 1974, their life was forever changed for the better welcoming their first child & daughter, Deborah Lauderbaugh (42). David & Gail lived in the Davison, Michigan area for several years until building their current home in Canton, Michigan in 1975. On June 10, 1976, they were thrilled to welcome their second child & son, Stephen Lauderbaugh (40). David’s favorite thing to do was spend time with family at their cottage in Hillman, Michigan on gorgeous Lake Avalon and being on the boat and fishing. David retired from Detroit Edison in 2001 and thoroughly enjoyed his retirement spending time with family, friends, & the many family dogs. He took great pleasure in playing jokes on his family and friends and he loved to laugh. David was good-natured and warm-hearted with a great sense of humor and always loved friendly arguments with family and friends. He loved following the weather and always knew when there was going to be sunshine after the rain, thunder after lightning, and a rainbow in the distance. David will be truly missed - his kind heart, his humor and his caring and selfless attitude. David is survived by his wife of 49 years, Gail, their daughter, Deborah, and son, Stephen (Kelly). He is also survived by his brother, Donald (Carol), and sister-in-law, Marcia Graves, and also several nieces, nephews, and cousins. David was preceded in death by his father and mother, Lawrence and Marion, and brother, Art. He is lovingly remembered by all who knew him. We will miss his dear face, but he will live forever in our hearts and souls. There will be a funeral visitation on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 from 3 – 8 pm & funeral service on Thursday, January 26, 2017 at 11 am both taking place at Vermeulen-Sajewski Funeral Home, 46401 W. Ann Arbor Road, Plymouth Twp, MI, 48170. Due to the unexpected and sudden loss of David, in lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the family in care of Gail Lauderbaugh to be used at the family’s discretion.
