Janet Julia Buczek

Buczek, Janet Julia, December 16, 2015 age 95 of Plymouth. Janet was born Jennie Julia Buczek on July 1, 1920, to Stanley and Catherine Buczek in Detroit, Michigan. She was the oldest of three children, Leonard, Eugene, and Philomena. She attended elementary school at St. Cunegunda Catholic Church in southwest Detroit. There, she learned to read and write Polish. She had six children, John, Frank, Diane, Lonnie, Patrick, and Cynthia. As a young woman, she was employed by a furrier in Detroit. There, she was trained to make fur coats, capes, and stoles. She would actually make the article of clothing from matching up and sewing the pelts, to the silk lining, pockets, hooks, or button holes. Because of the money invested in her training, after she started a family, the furrier set her up to work from home. Growing up, the kids can all remember the big sewing machine and boxes of pelts in the basement. To also help supplement the family income, she was a dress maker. Her hobbies were bingo, playing games, and fishing. She was afraid of water so wouldn’t go out in a boat, but would fish from shore for hours. She always enjoyed family gatherings and at Christmas her house had so many lights on it, it was the brightest on the block. After a three-way bypass when she was 65 and a broken hip in her eighties she was still able to live independently until the age of 92. Janet is survived by her children, Frank (Yolanda) Wujcik, Diane Signorelli, Lonnie (Vicki) Wujcik, Patrick Wujcik, and Cynthia Wujcik. Janet has eleven grandchildren and numerous great and great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her siblings, Leonard (Rose) Buczek, Eugene (Shirley) Buczek, Philomena (Florence) Podpora (Edward), and her oldest son John (Shirley) Podpora. Funeral Service Sunday 5 PM at Vermeulen-Sajewski Funeral Home, 46401 West Ann Arbor Road (between Sheldon & Beck) Plymouth. Visitation Sunday 12:00 noon – 5:00 PM.
