Campbell, Janet Dudney, April 15, 2013 age 78 of Plymouth. Beloved wife of Malcolm David. Loving mother to Mary Catherine, David (Patty), Elizabeth (Robert) McCullough, and Rev. Douglas (Rev. Emily). Dear sister to Jim (Janice) Cauhorn, and her much younger sister Mary Lukens. Fabulous Grandma to Malcolm, John, Scott, Alex, Daniel, Sarah, and Hannah who brought much joy to her life. Visitation Fri 3-8 PM at Vermeulen Funeral Home, 46401 W Ann Arbor Rd., (btwn Sheldon & Beck) Plymouth. The family also will gather Sat 1 PM until the 2 PM Memorial Service at First Presbyterian Church of Plymouth, 701 Church St., Plymouth, MI 48170. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the church or Plymouth- Canton Community Literacy Council, 46501 Warren, Canton, MI 48187. To share a memory, please use the view and send condolences tab on this web page. After graduating from Michigan State University, Janet taught 2nd grade students in Dearborn, Michigan. Her devotion to living out her Christian faith through her church, education and cultural activities was evident throughout her life. While her children were in elementary and secondary school, she was always an active PTA member, helped organize class field trips, and was an active fund raiser for numerous school activities. Outside the classroom, she helped to initiate the Junior Great Books program in both Dearborn and Plymouth, was a 4-H leader, active in Indian Princesses and initiated the “Close Up” program, which gives students an opportunity to experience a meaningful trip to Washington, D.C. She always could be counted on to take an active role in programs and activities that would enrich the education experience for her children and their classmates. Janet also was active in adding value to the community of Plymouth. She was instrumental in organizing the Plymouth Canton Community Literacy Council, the Plymouth Arts Council, Music in the Park, and planning for the new public library building. She also helped to bring Peter Rockwell to Plymouth, where he was commissioned to create marble play sculptures for children in Plymouth Township Park. While family was always paramount, Janet’s passing also will leave a void in the lives of many dear friends. May she rest in peace.
