Larry Bean

Larry Bean, a devoted husband, father, veteran, and faithful servant of his community, passed away on January 18, 2026. He was born on December 27, 1949. Born and raised in Illinois, Larry graduated from Lakeview High School in 1968. He went on to further his education at Illinois State University, earning a degree in Business Administration in 1977. Following his education, Larry began his 45-year career in sales with American Brands and later retired from DRL Enterprises. His commitment to learning and professional excellence reflected the determination and work ethic that would define his life. Larry proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, including active-duty service during the Vietnam War. His time in uniform reflected his deep sense of duty, courage, and commitment to protecting the freedoms so many hold dear. Following his active service, Larry continued his dedication to state and nation as a member of the Michigan National Guard, where he served honorably for 10 years. His military career was a source of great pride, and he carried the values of discipline, integrity, and service with him throughout his life. Beyond his military service, Larry was a man of strong and steady faith. He was a devoted member of the Church of Christ, worshiping with congregations in Marquette, Michigan, and throughout metro Detroit. His church family knew him as a kind, dependable presence - someone always willing to lend a hand, share a word of encouragement, or quietly serve where needed. Larry’s greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Jacqueline Bean, whose partnership and devotion were the foundation of his life; his cherished children, Jason Bean and Stacey Bean; and his sisters, Sheryl Challans and Chris Dipple, both of Illinois. He was a steady source of strength and wisdom to them, offering guidance, humor, and unwavering support. Those who knew Larry will remember his humble spirit, steadfast character, and deep love for his country, his faith, and his family. His legacy of service, integrity, and compassion will live on in the lives he touched and in the family he so dearly loved. Arrangements entrusted to Vermeulen-Sajewski Funeral Home, Plymouth. A Memorial service is scheduled for Saturday May 2nd starting at 10:30am to be held at Kenwood Church of Christ, 20200 Merriman Road, Livonia MI 48152 The burial of cremated remains will take place on Friday, May 22nd at 11 AM at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield, Illinois.
