Lucille M. Grenier

Lucille (Lucy) Grenier of Lake Preston, South Dakota, was born December 7, 1927 and left this world April 27, 2024 at the age of 96. She died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family. Lucille was born in Detroit, Michigan to Joseph and Emma Grenache. She had 3 sisters. Lucy graduated from Madonna High School in Detroit. She then became a stenographer for the Burroughs company and later worked for J.L. Hudson and Macy’s department stores in the Bridal Registry Departments. In 1950 she met and married Robert Grenier and together they raised daughters Donna and Denise and enjoyed 63 years of married bliss. Lucy and Robert served as a fine example of what a holy and loving marriage looked like! Lucille lived with her daughter and son-in-law, Denise and Jim Knight, on Lake Thompson in South Dakota, and enjoyed sitting on the porch and looking over the water for hours. Lucille was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in DeSmet where she had many friends and will be remembered as the sweet, charming, little old lady with the happy smile! Lucille is survived by daughters Donna (Lee) Tykoski and Denise (Jim) Knight and, grandchildren Kimberly (James) Lynn, Leo (Amber) Tykoski, Michele (Jason) Dziedzic, Robert (Lauren) Tykoski, Kevin (Lyla) Tykoski, Jeanette (Jeremy) Grady, Jimmy (Audra) Knight and 17 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Lucy was preceeded in death by her husband, Robert, parents Emma and Joseph Grenache and sisters Marguerite (Larry) McPartlin, Claire Cummings (Joseph), and Mimi (Houston) Murphy. Lucy will be dearly missed by her family and friends and others who enjoyed her cheerful and positive disposition. Visitation and Rosary will be held in Michigan on Friday, May 3, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Vermeulen-Sajewski Funeral Home, 46401 Ann Arbor Road West, (between Sheldon and Beck) Plymouth, MI. The Funeral Mass will be in Canton, Michigan at St. John Neumann Catholic Church on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at 11:00 AM. Lucy’s life will be celebrated with a Memorial Mass and reception at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in DeSmet, South Dakota on Thursday, May 9, at 7:00 PM.
