Marguerite Ann Annessa April 23rd, 1932 – July 6th, 2026 Marguerite Ann (Martin) Annessa passed away peacefully on July 6th, 2026 surrounded by her loving family. She was a loving mother, grandmother and friend to all. She was born April 23rd, 1932 to William and Cecilia (Thayer) Martin. She was preceded in death by 4 wonderful siblings, Ellen (Lionel) Montagne, Mary Lou (Tommy) Lumpkin, William (Camille) Martin, and Patrick (Rita) Martin. She loved each dearly. She attended St. Catherine’s Grade School and High School in Detroit, where she started a lifelong career of gathering friends. Many of earliest friends in life remained friends for life. In 1955, she married Frank Annessa and had 3 beautiful children, James Annessa, Patrick Annessa (Terri), and Marybeth Yanik (Greg). She had seven grandchildren, Jeff Annessa, Michael Annessa, Kristen Nicholas, Steve Annessa, Brandon Yanik, Megan Yanik, and Sean Yanik, along with nine great-grandchildren. She greeted each one with the simple phrase, “Hello Precious.” To each grandchild, she was their precious Nana. The beauty of Marguerite was her engaging disposition. She was the sun on a clouded day, the moon light on a night sky. Every room she entered was filled with kindness. Every heart she touched became filled with love. She didn’t just light up rooms. She lit up lives. Yours, mine, all of ours. She was Ms. Fuddy Duddy to her grandchildren and their friends, holding impromptu tea parties for anyone under the age of ten. In the 1970’s she started a business, “Flowers by Marguerite.” In the 1980-90’s, she managed a sporting goods store, “Sports on the Hill” in Grosse Pointe. Both businesses were connected by one word- warmth. Her smile brought warmth not just to each business, but to the customers she served. She simply had a gift for making everyone always feel better about themselves. This is her legacy, to each of you. This is our Nana, our mother, and a friend to the world. “How cool is it that the same God that created mountains, oceans and galaxies, looked at you and thought the world needed one of you too.” The family will gather Friday, July 10th from 10 AM until the 11 AM Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, 47650 North Territorial Road, Plymouth, MI 48170. The burial will be held at Resurrection Cemetery, for immediate family only.
