Michael Louis Brent

Michael Louis Brent passed away unexpectedly on July 20, 2026. Mike was a dedicated family man, a loving husband to his wife, Laura Brent (Zakalowski), and a doting father to his two daughters, Amelia and Vivian. He could often be found on the sidelines, proudly cheering them on at their soccer games. Mike was the beloved son of Philip Brent Sr. and Mary Brent. He was the dear brother of Marlene (Howard) Riggins and Philip (Miyako) Brent Jr., and a highly respected, deeply loved uncle to Taresa (Toby) Forman , Elizabeth (Tom) Sheill, Alyssa, Kaitlin, Michael, Gabrielle, Luke, Thomas, and Mitchell. He was an integral and pillar member of a large, close-knit extended family, a fiercely loyal friend to so many, and always quick to donate his time and talents wherever needed. A graduate of Livonia Churchill High School, Mike chose to honorably serve his country in the United States Army, where he spent some time stationed in Korea. He explored multiple professions following his military service, until beginning his career as a Border Patrol Agent in Douglas, Arizona which led to him finally serving at the Detroit-Canadian border as a Customs Agent for the United States Customs and Border Protection Agency, a department of Homeland Security. Mike has also been a proud member of several veterans' organizations, including the American Legion and VFW. Mike was a passionately dedicated member of the "Hired Guns", a law enforcement motorcycle club, spending many hours socially and in service alongside his brotherhood in blue, who continually dedicate their free time both in support of each other, and participating in events benefiting various causes. Mike leaves a profound and timeless legacy of service: service to his family, to his friends and comrades, and to his country. In lieu of flowers, a fund has been set up to support his family.
