Mona Nagy

Mona Nagy, loving wife to Joseph Nagy, loving mother to Debbie Nagy-Pierchala (William), Joanne Trela (Robert) and Chris Nagy (Lisa) and loving grandmother to Talia Trela, Emily Nagy, Alaina Nagy and Brandon Trela. Preceded in death by Edith Elisabeth Christensen Pouls (mother), Peter Anton Kristian Rasmussen Pouls (father) and Rita Taylor (sister). Mona was born in Copenhagen, Denmark on March 23, 1939. She was five years old when WWII ended and she clearly remembered planes flying overhead and German soldiers policing the streets. She spent a lot of her childhood summers at farms where she started her love of animals. Mona and Joe had quite the love story! Mona met Joe while he was stationed at the US Army base in Schweinfurt, Germany. They married after a couple months courtship and he brought her back to the states where they raised their three children. They have been married for over 65 years! They loved traveling and have been on about 30 cruises (around the world). She was very proud that she had been to 22 countries (not including all of the Caribbean islands), one more than Joe! Mona felt it was important that her family knew her all of her Danish relatives and her culture so the family spent a lot of summers there. She also had a lot of Danish family visit the family in the US through the years. After Mona raised her children, she worked part time until about age 70 in different clerical roles through Kelly Services. Mona loved her grandchildren with all her heart. They brought so much joy to her life and she was beyond proud of all of their accomplishments. She loved seeing them grow up and hearing all of their funny stories. All of the grandchildren loved their MorMor so much! Her grandpups Norm, Theo, Milo, and Sam were also the loves of her life! They loved her calm, sweet, kind nature (and that she always gave them people food!). Unfortunately, she never got to meet her newest grandpup, Ollie, in person, but he would have loved her! Mona was loved by everyone who met her as she was so kind and thoughtful. She will truly be missed. Visitation Tuesday, September 30th, 3:00 PM-8:00PM at Vermeulen-Sajewski Funeral Home, 46401 Ann Arbor Road West (between Sheldon and Beck), Plymouth. Funeral Service will be on Wednesday, October 1st at 11:00 AM, also at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Parkview Memorial Cemetery, Livonia, Michigan.
