Ralph "Pops" Leo Fisher

Ralph Leo Fisher, affectionately known as “Pops” and “Papa,” passed away peacefully on May 17, 2025, in Ann Arbor, Michigan, at the age of 82. Born on March 3, 1943, in Cadillac, Michigan, Ralph was the beloved son of Alonzo and Florence Christina Fisher (née Hansen). He grew up with a deep love for the outdoors, often hunting and fishing alongside his father, and a lifelong passion for fast cars. A proud graduate of Cadillac High School, Class of 1962, Ralph later built a life centered on hard work, family, and joy in the little things. Ralph married the love of his life, Deborah Lynn Fisher (née Crevier), on February 28, 1970, in Flint, Michigan. Together they raised a beautiful family and created countless cherished memories until Deborah’s passing. A skilled and dedicated butcher by trade, Ralph worked for Meijer, Farmer Jack's, Town Square, and fulfilled a dream of entrepreneurship by owning and operating the Iowa Beef Outlet. He retired from Farmer Jack’s but remained deeply connected to his community and family. Ralph’s happiest days were spent surrounded by loved ones, especially at his property “up north.” He cherished those quiet moments in nature and the lively weekends filled with the sounds of his grandchildren playing, laughing, and making memories. He was their biggest fan—always present in the stands or audience, cheering them on at sporting events, dance recitals, concerts, and Special Olympics competitions. Ralph was a devoted Detroit sports fan through and through. He rarely missed a game, rooting faithfully for the Tigers, Lions, Red Wings, and Michigan State Spartans. Among his many passions, Ralph loved making maple syrup each spring—sharing both the process and the sweet rewards with family. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing, traditions that connected him to his youth and continued throughout his life. One of Ralph’s proudest hobbies was “Fisher Racing,” a family tradition he shared with his son, brothers, and nephews. He thrived on the excitement of the track and the camaraderie that came with it. Perhaps his favorite tradition of all was hosting the Annual Pig Roast. It was a true highlight of the year, when family and friends brought their campers and gathered for a weekend full of celebration, food, and togetherness. And of course, no one could forget Ralph’s sweet tooth—especially his love for ice cream, a simple joy he never outgrew. He is survived by his loving children: Laura Kay (Mike) Huber, Brenda Sue (Mark) Bancroft, Russell Lee (William) Fisher, Ryan Michael (Kim) Fisher, Dana Marie (Chuck) Plater, and Thom Hadfield. He was preceded in death by his son, Kenneth A Fisher. Ralph was a proud grandfather to Joshua William (Brittany) Bancroft, Kristina Nicole (Zach Baker) Huber, Katelyn Michelle Bancroft, Joseph Patrick (Taylor) Bancroft, Brooke Ann Fisher, Emma Dawn Plater, Kyra Marie (Nate) Richmond, Brian Joseph Groce, Elena Lynn Plater, Collin Michael Fisher, Tayler Ann Fisher, and Ellie Louise Plater. He was overjoyed to learn he would soon become a great-grandfather to a baby girl, expected in August 2025. He is also survived by his sister, Sandra Presler, and by many nieces, nephews, and extended family members who adored him. Ralph was preceded in death by his beloved wife Deborah, his parents, and siblings Lorraine, Charles, Wayne, Donald, Tom, Gordon, George, Patricia, and Barbara. Ralph also leaves behind his life partner, Sue Adkins, who brought him comfort, companionship, and joy in his later years. Ralph will be remembered for his boundless love, generous heart, and playful spirit. His favorite sayings, “I love you a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck” and “I love you, infinity,” continue to echo in the hearts of those who loved him. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 22nd from 4 PM until 9 PM at Vermeulen-Sajewski Funeral Home, 46401 Ann Arbor Road West (Between Sheldon and Beck), Plymouth. Masonic service starting at 7 PM. The Funeral Service will take place Friday, May 23rd at 11 AM, also at the funeral home. Luncheon following the service at Mr. Miguel’s located at 39305 Plymouth Rd Livonia MI 48150. He will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife, Deborah, at Mills Township Cemetery in Mills Township, Michigan. Memorial contributions may be made to an organization of your choice.
