Sarah "Sally" M. Fedor

Sarah Martha Fedor (O’Neill) (“Sally”), age 78, of Plymouth, Michigan, formerly of Ypsilanti, went to be with our Lord God on January 27, 2024 surrounded by her family. Sally was born to the late Vincent and Margaret (Monro) O’Neill in Ypsilanti, Michigan on August 15, 1945 (Feast Day of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary). She was the first of her family to be born in the United States to parents who immigrated from Ireland and Canada. She graduated from St. John’s High School in 1963 (where she frequently tested the patience of the nuns who taught her), and later attended some college before meeting the love of her life and marrying Steven F. Fedor. She was a devoted wife and mother and together they raised 3 children and started a successful business out of their basement. Sally successfully carried on with the family business after the passing of Steven (1993) and the business continues today. Sally, as the matriarch of her family, was known for many things, including being a fierce advocate, feisty, stubborn, funny, great wedding party dancer, and sometimes “Crazy Aunt Sally”. But what she was known most for was her undying love for her family and friends, and her ability to make everyone she talked to the most important person in the room. Sally was your biggest supporter when she would show up at your sporting events, theater performance, school event, or wedding party. She was always one of the first on the dance floor and one of the last to leave the party. She worked in several different jobs over the years including being an Operator at Michigan Bell, and Assembler at Ford, the “cafeteria lady” at St. Thomas the Apostle School and Gabriel Richard High School in Ann Arbor, volunteer at St. Alexis Bingo Hall on Tuesday nights, and a business owner. But her favorite job was being a mother to her children and a grandmother to her grandchildren. Sally was the mom/grandmother in the stands with the milk jug full of pennies, a cow bell, or a bullhorn cheering on her favorite players and performers and letting everyone know who she was there to see. She hosted sleep overs, cookie parties, and shopping trips to remind everyone who the fun Grandma was. When Sally wasn’t being your biggest fan, she loved gardening, canning the fruits of her labor, reading everything she could get her hands on, playing games on her computer, and hosting family gatherings. Every holiday was at “Grandma’s”, and she loved her grandchildren the most. Sally liked to offer unsolicited advice to them (and others) and let them know what was important in life. Be nice, do what is right no matter who is watching, say your prayers, and always do your best. Sally was predeceased by her parents and her husband, her brother Stephen O’Neill, but leaves behind a lot of people who loved her very much, including: Lisa Fedor, Matthew Fedor (Amy Slameka), Amy Van Schoick (Rick); grandchildren Andrew Fedor, Madison Van Schoick, William Fedor, Hazel Van Schoick, and Michael Fedor; her best friend Kimberly Gorshe; brother Peter J. O’Neill, and many, many, nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews who carry on the O’Neill name. Visitation will be held at Vermeulen-Sajewski Funeral Home , 46401 Ann Arbor Road West (between Sheldon and Beck), Plymouth on Tuesday, January 30 from 4-8 pm. A Rosary will be said at 7:00 PM. A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church. 47650 North Territorial Road, Plymouth on January 31 at 10:30 am, (lying in state from 10:00-10:30 am).
