Tahir Tare

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved grandfather, father, and friend, Tahir Tare, who left us on August 8, 2024, at the age of 90. Tahir lived a life full of love, leaving behind memories that will be cherished by all who knew him. Born in Paramithi, Çamëri, he was forced to leave his birthplace at the age of 11. Together with his family, he started a new life in Tirana. In 1961, Tahir married Alie Xhemo in Tirana. In his passing, we lose a great man, but his spirit lives on in the memories and stories we carry with us. Tahir is survived by his three children, Kasem, Linda, and Anila, along with their respective spouses, Arjana, Sokol, and Djani. He was also deeply cherished by his six grandchildren, Fiona, Iva, Rei, Klinti, Trevis, and Andy, who, like their parents, will continue to honor his legacy by living with the same wisdom, humor, and love that he exemplified every day. He was also a treasured uncle to many nieces and nephews back in Albania who loved him dearly. Despite the hardships he faced throughout his life, Tahir never lost his sense of humor. He had a unique ability to find joy in the simplest things and could bring laughter to any room with his quick wit. His laughter was contagious, and his stories will forever echo in our hearts. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, sharing stories of the past, and imparting lessons that will live on in our hearts forever. A gifted linguist, Tahir had a unique talent for languages, effortlessly switching between them even in his final days. His linguistic prowess was more than just a skill; it was a reflection of his deep appreciation for culture and connection. For years as an electrician, Tahir biked 15 miles to work every day to provide for his family. As he got older, he carried his passion for biking with him. He also held onto various hobbies, such as playing dominoes, watching soccer games, and listening to Greek music. His love for life was most noticeable through his morning routine of having a cup of Turkish coffee alongside a shot of raki. We hope you raise a glass to remember a life well-lived, cherishing the memories Tahir left behind.
