Hosey, Theresa A. unexpectedly passed March 16, 2019 age 59 of Brighton (formerly of Canton). Loving mother of Allison and Anthony Ruda. Cherished daughter of Gladys and the late James Hosey. Dear sister of Rita Miller, Deborah Drypen, Gwen Hosey Anderson, Thomas Hosey, Gary Hosey, David Hosey, Barbara DiPonio, and the late James and John Hosey. Visitation Thursday, March 21st, 5PM-9PM, and Friday, March 22nd, 1PM-9PM, at Vermeulen-Sajewski Funeral Home, 46401 Ann Arbor Road West, Plymouth (btwn Sheldon and Beck). In state Saturday, March 23rd, at 10:30 AM until the 11:00 AM Funeral Mass at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 44800 Warrren Road, Canton. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Southfield. Theresa Hosey Memorial Scholarship For the advancement of the education of OR nurses About: Our mother was an amazing nurse—she graduated from the University of Michigan School of Nursing and worked as an OR nurse within the U of M hospital system for over 20 years. She was a member of the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN) throughout her professional career. Donations made in her memory will go toward a scholarship created in her name and administered by the AORN Foundation. The AORN Foundation exists to "advance patient safety by supporting nurses who make surgery safe through education, research, and patient safety initiatives." As a charitable non-profit organization, it aims to make a difference in the lives of perioperative nurses by funding academic scholarships, professional development programs, and research. She was very active for the majority of her life and bravely entered surgery numerous times over the years whenever her injury gave her particular trouble, which unfortunately was far too often. At her passing, she was in recovery from the latest surgery on her foot that was intended to help a persistent wound finally heal, thereby improving her mobility and her overall quality of life. Through it all, our mother was strong, never complained, was always thinking of others, and was the most fun person to be around. The mission of Alternatives in Motion (AIM) is to "enhance independence through access to mobility equipment" for those who do not have the necessary means, and all donations will directly support its vital mobility equipment program. As a local organization, AIM was able to provide mobility equipment to more than 400 Michigan residents in 2018 alone. How to donate: 1.
