Sweeney, Daniel Willard, February 11, 2022 age 78 of Detroit. After years of making sure the hungry were fed, the naked were clothed, the lonely were visited, the grieving were comforted as well as the imprisoned and sick affirmed, Deacon Dan has gone home to eternal life to receive his hug from Jesus. His long list of Irish relatives will greet him as they all compare stories. Your last chance to wave goodbye will be on Tuesday, March 1st at the 10 AM Funeral Mass at St. Scholastica Catholic Church, 8201 W. Outer Drive in Detroit. Visitation will be at the church on Sunday, February 27th 3-6 PM and on Monday, February 28th 3 PM until the 5 PM Rosary and Prayer Service. Beloved son of the late John and the late Pauline Sweeney. He leaves behind his brother John Lane Sweeney and sister the late Catherine Sweeney, niece Jane Sweeney, dear friends Kevin (Rebekah), Patrick, Stephanie, Michael and Francesca Bushey; along with hundreds of friends and neighbors who have learned from Deacon Dan and will, we hope, pick up where he left off. Deacon Dan was a member of The Detroit Catholic Pastoral Alliance, Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus #4872 of Taylor and the Livonia Lions Club. He supported Veterans of Foreign Wars, Wounded Warriors, Salvation Army Bed and Bread, Shriners Children’s Hospital and Angels Place.
