As a young boy he moved to the family farm in Ovid Michigan. Some of his fondest memories of living and working on the farm included attending a one room country school house and his favorite teacher Ruby Warren. He attended public high school in Ovid and before graduation the family moved back to Detroit where Ray took a job with Ternstedt (a division of GM). Later he worked for Reinhold Landscaping Company and relished the fact that he helped plant hundreds of trees in Washington DC around the Capitol Building. After returning home he applied for work at Ford Motor Company where he worked in Quality Control until he retired. He was a diehard Ford loyalist and a member of local 900. He always drove a Lincoln or a Ford and enjoyed attending all the retiree meetings until 2020. As a young boy he loved going on Sunday, family outings to Warsaw Park, picking mushrooms and long rides in his dads big Buick. He was very proud of his Polish heritage and in 1967 he and a few friends started the Polka Booster Club of Michigan. He loved to dance the polka and he taught himself to play the accordion and harmonica. Along with playing his accordion and harmonica at many dances he loved playing Happy Birthday and STO LAT for family and friends. He and Charlotte loved to travel and visited many of the states in the U.S. He and Jan took a trip to Florida, loved going out to dinner for some good polish food and soup and dancing the polka at the booster club dances. They were proud members of the Wayne Westland Dyer Senior Club and especially enjoyed the lunches and bus trips. He was a proud member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Westland for 56 years. He loved singing, serving as an usher and especially the fellowship after each service. He loved people and they loved him back. He will be missed. Do Widzenia “Pan” Franek, Dobranoc and Boze blogoslaw and of course Hasta La Vista.
