October 12, 1952 - July 17, 2021
Gail E. Harry, 68, of Canton, MI, passed away July 17, 2021 at Vibrant Life Senior Living. She was born on October 12, 1952 in Aurora, Colorado to Philip and Ilo Stallard. Gail was raised in Kansas and graduated from Pittsburg High School in 1970. That year, she also married the love of her life, Glen E Harry, and gave birth to her 1st child, Tracy. Her sons, Brad and Adam, were born 7 and 9 years later respectively. Gail’s love for her family characterized her entire life. Gail also took pride in her successful and varied work history. Throughout her life, Gail worked as a director for the SE Kansas Girl Scout Council, beauty consultant for Mary Kay, teacher at a Daycare Center, hostess/waitress in a hotel, sales representative and very successful administrative assistant at PEBSCO, Datamax, and Orbseal. Worship and service to God were important to Gail. She enjoyed serving as a deacon at Geneva Presbyterian Church and attending her church’s women’s group. Gail loved plants, flowers, and animals, especially gerber daisies, butterflies, hummingbirds. She enjoyed staying active with her beloved beagle, Toby. She took pleasure in simple things like a good book, a cup of tea, back scratches, and watching birds outside the window. Gail loved music and dancing, especially 60s, 70s, big band, and holiday music. She loved to sing and create art. Glen and Gail loved to travel together, taking cherished vacations to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico and a Caribbean Cruise to Cozumel and Belize. In 2008, Gail was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer's Disease. Gail and Glen participated in a highly supportive and meaningful Elderberry Group through the University of Michigan Alzheimer's Disease Center where they created a life history and art with one another and participated in critical research on Alzheimer's patients and caretakers. On March 31, 2016, Gail moved into Huron Woods memory care facility and later to Vibrant Life Senior Living. She made many friends during her time there. Throughout it all, Glen was lovingly beside her side. They continued to go to church, music therapy, and exercise groups. While she could stand, he would walk and dance with her. While she could sit and talk, he would see her every day and chat and sing with her. When she could no longer eat by herself, he was there to feed her breakfast every day. Gail is survived by her husband of 51 years; Glen Harry; siblings Lynn Stallard, Doug (Michele) Stallard and Janet Stallard; children Tracy (Mark) Yamazaki, Brad (Michelle) Harry and Adam (Rachel) Harry; and eight grandchildren: Rebekah, Anna, Nathan, Lukas, Lydia, Emberly, Kyla, and Natalie.
