Jack Blevins

August 1, 1939 - June 27, 2021

Jack Lee Blevins, 81, of Houghton Lake passed away on Sunday June 27, 2021 at home surrounded by his loved ones. Jack was born on August 1, 1939 in Cumberland, Kentucky to Wiley and Ginnie (Minor) Blevins. Jack worked as a general laborer for Ford Motor Company for 33 years. He also worked as a butcher at Kroger, a constable for Canton Township, and a police officer for Inkster Police Department, all while working at Ford. Jack was married on September 7, 2013 in Houghton Lake to Josephine (Wireman) Chapin. He was a member of the Houghton Lake Sportsman Club. Jack loved hunting, fishing, and hunting for golf balls which he took home to sell. Jack's dog, Pebbles, had a very special place in his heart and now Jack and Pebbles have been reunited again. A special thanks to his niece Dawnna Briggs that Jack referred to as his drug dealer, you see, Jack had a PHD in BS. Surviving Mr. Blevins are his loving wife Josephine Chapin of Houghton Lake; daughter, Vicki (Ron) Chouinard; son, John (Denise) Blevins; sister, Shirley Rowe; two step daughters, Penny (Bryan) Smith, and Brenda (Bryon) Franklin; eleven grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; special friends, Danny Renberg, and Ben Sawade. Jack was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Ann Blevins; brother, Emery Blevins; sister, Helen Stuart; grandson, David Martell II; great-granddaughter, Amanda Witt. Funeral Services for Jack Lee Blevins will be conducted at 7:00pm Wednesday June 30, 2021 at Vermeulen-Sajewski Funeral Home in Westland with visitation from 1:00 pm until 9:00pm at the funeral home. A service will also be held on Saturday July 3, 2021 at Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel, with Rev. Bryan Thompson officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday July 3, 2021 at Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel from 11:00am until the time of the service at 1:00pm. Interment will be in White Chapel Cemetery, Troy. Memorial contributions in memory of Jack are asked to be directed to the family. Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel is serving the family.
