Masini, Kay, July 31, 1936 - September 10, 2020 age 84 of Beaver Island and Plymouth, Michigan.Remarkable wife of Don.Mom to Lita (the late David) Popke, Michael (Cindy) Masini, Jon (Julie) Masini, and Lynne (Don) Eckardt. Nana to Alexandra (Jason), Kit, Lisa (Brian) Kiersten, Hank, Anna, Kevin, Jack and Donald, and great grandmother to Abigail. Sister to Michele (Jim) Stamm, and the late John (Grace) Peternard. Preceded in death by her parents, Sadie Gallagher Peternard and Roland Bruce McDonough.Loving aunt to many. Visitation Friday, September 18th from 5 PM until 7 PM with Rosary immediately following at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 26325 Main Street, Beaver Island, MI 49782. In state Saturday, September 19th 10:30 AM until the 11:00 AM Funeral Mass at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Beaver Island, MI 49782. Due to the location of the visitation and funeral, the family is requesting memorials may be made to Beaver Island Historical Society, 26275 Main Street, Beaver Island, MI 49782 or Beaver Island Marine Museum, 38105 Michigan Avenue, Beaver Island, MI 49782. There will also be a public “Celebration of Life” in October to be held in the Plymouth, Michigan area. Date and time to be determined. Juried into six international exhibitions. Two paintings selected for art magazine: “Acrylic Works - the Best of Acrylic Painting”. Solo exhibitions: Antwerp, Belgium; Stevensville; Plymouth (2); Canton; Westland; and Beaver Island, Michigan. Her art was selected for over 30 group (including juried) exhibitions in Michigan and Minnesota. ARTWORK MEDIUM & STYLE: worked in oil, watercolor, acrylic, collage, mixed media. Latest work style: representational abstract. Paintings are in private collections in U.S. and Europe. ART MEMBERSHIPS AND OFFICES: Past memberships include:Honorary V.P., Michigan Art Education Association; President, Berrien County Art Guild; V.P. St. Joseph, MI Art Association; Board member and Publicity Chair, Minnesota Watercolor Society. Signature member in ISEA (International Society of Experimental Artists), Three Cities Art Club, and Plymouth Community Arts Council. OTHER ART INVOLVEMENT: Former art teacher (high school and adult) and lecturer. Won state awards for design of stage sets, book covers, brochures, art program development. Published a booklet of her Christmas paintings and poems. Juror: 27th Annual Canton Fine Arts Exhibition 2019. Developed Power Point presentations “From the Brain to the Brush” & “Surrealism” - covering philosophy of art; explore where ideas come from; how we get and use them; meanings; interpretations; using poetry & humor with examples of her art and world famous artists. OTHER: As a partner in a public relations and communications firm, worked with clients like Whirlpool, The Brand Names Foundation + financial, educational and medical clients. Wrote newspaper column covering the development of senior citizen centers and programs. EDUCATION: B.A. from the Dominican University, IL. Classes at the Chicago Art Institute, Oxford University in England and workshops with renowned Master instructors.
