Richard Perry Cranston, age 76, passed away peacefully on August 23, 2021 in Howell, MI. He was born February 18, 1945 in Detroit, Michigan and was one of three children of the late Leonard H Cranston and Margaret M Cranston. Rich was the beloved husband of Pat Cranston (recently deceased) and father to Bruce (Sue) Cranston and Brice (Bobbi) Cranston. He was a grandfather to Kevin (Ashley) Cranston, Steven (Vanessa) Cranston, Veronica Cranston and Robert Cranston and great grandfather to Griffin, Madilyn, Chase and Brooklyn. Rich was predeceased by his wife; H Patricia Cranston (August 11, 2021) and his two brothers; Leonard G Cranston (August 24 2006) and Arthur V Cranston (September 19 2012). Rich met Pat in Rome, NY at Griffiss Airforce Base, where they fell in love and got married. They moved to Plymouth, MI for many years where he was a Sign Painter for Wayne County. He loved playing percussion with the Plymouth Community Band and Symphony as well as supporting his sons in their own activities. After retiring, they moved to their home on Sand Lake in National City, MI where Rich continued to follow his passion for music with the Tawas Community Band and various other musical groups. He loved to spend time on the lake, fishing, relaxing and enjoying nature. They both loved having family and friends come to visit at the cottage. In recent years they moved to the Brighton/Howell area to be closer to family. Rich joined the US Air Force in 1963, was honorably discharged in 1967 and will be interred at the Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, MI on September 2, 2021 at 2 pm, where a small outdoor military service will be held. A Celebration of Life gathering will be held at the convenience of the family at a later date.
