Shyi-Jian Chang

August 5, 1954 - October 13, 2020

Shyi-Jian Chang of Canton, Michigan, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 13, 2020, at age 66. Born on August 5, 1954, in Nantou, Taiwan, he was the son of the late Chin-Chu Chang and late Wei-Chu Chang. Shyi-Jian was also the youngest sibling in a family of 5 brothers and 1 sister. Shyi-Jian was the dedicated husband of 37 years to Bea-Feng Tseng and very proud father to Grady Chang and Jocelin Chang. Shyi-Jian’s passions included lifelong learning, fishing, and exploring the great outdoors. Nothing, though, was more important to Shyi-Jian than his family and friends. He exhibited great curiosity and consideration for those around him. He will be forever remembered for his captivating storytelling, light-hearted sense of humor, and insightful conversations. Shyi-Jian had abundant gravitas and always left a distinctive impact on any situation he encountered. He approached life with a fervent work ethic and endless pragmatism, always striving to raise the bar for himself and inspiring others to do the same. A visitation will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2020, from 2:00 – 4:00 PM with a few words from the family at 3:00 PM at the Vermeulen-Sajewski Funeral Home (46401 Ann Arbor Road, Plymouth, Michigan 48170). The family understands that Shyi-Jian meant a lot to many, however, due to current health restrictions and out of concern for our guests, we have limited capacity and must limit attendance to those directly invited.
