Constance Marie Radachy

Constance M. “Connie” Radachy, age 84, passed away peacefully at her home in Canton, Michigan, on June 17, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Connie was born on November 23, 1941, at her family home in Detroit, Michigan, to Thomas and Anna (Szostek) Gibala. She was raised in Detroit and attended St. Luke’s Catholic School from kindergarten through eighth grade. She continued her education at Holy Redeemer High School, where she excelled academically, played basketball, served as a cheerleader, and graduated with the Class of 1959. Connie was known throughout her life for her kindness, generosity, and unwavering devotion to her family and faith. She had a warm heart, a gentle spirit, and a remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcome and loved. She began her career with Michigan Bell, where she worked until the birth of her daughter. On May 19, 1962, Connie married Donald P. Mason, the first love of her life with whom they raised their children. Together they shared 38 years of marriage until Donald’s passing in 2000. They were blessed with two children, daughter Karen Simms (Bill), born in 1970, and son Christopher Mason, born in 1972. In the early 1980s, Connie returned to the workforce as a bank teller, a role she enjoyed for many years. However, her favorite and most cherished role began with the birth of her grandson, Billy, in 2001. Connie happily retired to become a full-time Nana, dedicating herself to caring for and nurturing her grandchildren. Her granddaughter, Kirsten, was born in 2004, bringing even more joy to her life. Family was the center of Connie’s world. She adored her grandchildren and took immense pride in every aspect of their lives. She faithfully attended hockey games, traveled with her grandchildren to tournaments, celebrated milestones, and created countless treasured memories with them. Her love for Billy and Kirsten knew no bounds. In 2008, Connie found love again and married Joseph Radachy. Together they shared many happy years filled with companionship, laughter, and adventure. Connie enjoyed gardening, golfing, sewing, and traveling. Whether tending flowers, exploring new places, or creating something beautiful with her hands, she approached life with enthusiasm and grace. Above all, she was a faithful Catholic whose relationship with God guided her throughout her life. Her faith was a source of strength, comfort, and purpose, and she lived her values through acts of kindness, compassion, and service to others. Connie is survived by her loving husband, Joseph Radachy; her daughter, Karen Simms (Bill); her son, Christopher Mason; her beloved grandchildren, Billy and Kirsten; her sisters, Patricia Sayers (Robert) and Bobbie Smith (Barney); and many cherished nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Anna Gibala, and her first husband, Donald P. Mason. Connie’s family will remember her as a loving wife, devoted mother, proud Nana, caring sister, faithful friend, and a woman whose generosity and kindness touched countless lives. Her legacy of love, faith, and family will continue to live on in all who knew her. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 22nd, from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Vermeulen-Sajewski Funeral Home, 46401 Ann Arbor Road West (between Sheldon and Beck) in Plymouth. She will lie in state on Tuesday, June 23rd, from 10:30 AM until the 11:00 AM Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, 47650 North Territorial Road (at Beck) in Plymouth. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Michigan (Ada office) 989 Spaulding Avenue SE, Ada, MI 49301 or the Alzheimer’s Association 25200 Telegraph Rd Ste 100 Southfield, MI 48033 in Connie’s memory.
