George "Butch" Taro

George "Butch" Taro, age 84, of Canton, Michigan, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2024. Born in Fall River, Massachusetts, Butch led a full and accomplished life, dedicating much of his career to the field of medical engineering. His work had a lasting impact, reflecting his passion for innovation and helping others. Butch was the beloved husband of Elaine Bertison Taro, who stood by his side throughout their 52 years together. He will be deeply missed by his brother, James (Gloria) Taro. In addition to his immediate family, Butch is survived by his nieces and nephews: Christopher (Brandy) Taro, Robert Taro, Sandra (David) Baker, and Catherine Taro. His great-nieces and great-nephews—Logan, Evan, Adam, Lilly, Destiny, Jane, Cassidy, Grant, and Victor—held a special place in his heart, and he cherished the time he spent with each of them. Another love of his life was sailing. His boat the “John Galt” that sailed out of the Ford Yacht Club was one of his most cherished pass times. Butch was predeceased by his parents, George and Rita (Green) Taro, who instilled in him the values of kindness, perseverance, and dedication that he carried throughout his life. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 18, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Vermeulen-Sajewski Funeral Home, located at 46401 Ann Arbor Road West (between Sheldon and Beck), Plymouth, MI, with a Rosary service at 6:30 PM. Butch will lie in state on Monday, August 19, 2024, at 10:00 AM until the time of the Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM at St. Thomas a' Becket Church, 555 South Lilley Road, Canton, MI. Interment will follow at St. Hedwig Cemetery in Dearborn Heights, MI. Butch’s life was one of quiet strength and devoted love for his family. He will be remembered for his gentle spirit and the many lives he touched. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness and compassion that will continue to inspire all who knew him.
