Lourdes Evelyn González de Ostos (In English at the bottom) Dios ha llamado a su lado a nuestra amadísima madre, es nuestra fe y esperanza en Cristo resucitado que disfrutará de su gloria donde Su sola Presencia es toda la luz necesaria. La misión de aprender a amar comenzó en su familia grande junto a Tirso, Eva y sus hermanos, mientras soñaba con ser madre y la completó en su vocación al matrimonio y la familia que formó junto a su esposo Gabriel. A su esposo, a sus hijos y nietos los llevó siempre a Jesús por María la Virgen Madre de Dios, haciendo honor al nombre y la fe que recibió de sus padres. Mujer fiel a sus valores y principios cristianos, hija, hermana, tía, esposa, madre, abuela, ama de casa, valiente para hacer frente a casi cualquier situación, elegante al bailar y aconsejar, economista con un toque de teología, entre tejidos, manualidades y mucho Espíritu Santo dedicó años de servicio en la Parroquia Nuestra Señora de la Paz, la Renovación Carismática Católica de Caracas, fue una de los “’Ángeles Azules” en la Acción Voluntaria de Hospitales visitando a los pacientes del Centro de Rehabilitación Alejandro Rhode y colaboró con otras obras sociales. En cada logro y cada dificultad, Dios la sostuvo, permitiéndole aún en la enfermedad mantener su buen humor característico. Damos gracias a Jesucristo Nuestro Señor por su vida de entrega y su ejemplo que nos recuerda, que como dijo San Agustín “El amor es una perla preciosa que, si no se posee, de nada sirven el resto de las cosas, y si se posee, sobra todo lo demás”. ---- God has called our dearly beloved Mom to be with Him; it is our faith and hope in the Risen Christ that she will enjoy His glory, where His Presence alone is all the light needed. Her journey of learning to love began within the family she was born into, alongside Tirso, Eva, and her siblings, while she dreamed of one day becoming a mother; and was fulfilled in her vocation to the married life and the family she built with her husband, Gabriel. She always led her husband, children and grandchildren to Jesus through Mary, the Virgin Mother of God, honoring the name and faith she had received from her parents. A woman who was faithful and true to her Christian values and principles—daughter, sister, aunt, wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker—she was brave in facing almost any situation and elegant in both her dancing and her counsel. An economist with a touch of theology, and amidst her knitting, crafts, and a deep devotion to the Holy Spirit, she dedicated years of service to the Our Lady of Peace Parish and the Catholic Charismatic Renewal of Caracas. She was one of the "Blue Angels" in the Hospital Volunteer Program, visiting patients at the Alejandro Rhode Rehabilitation Center, and collaborated on other social outreach initiatives. God sustained her through every achievement and hardship, enabling her to maintain her characteristic good humor even during illness. We give thanks to Jesus Christ our Lord for her life and her example of self-giving love, which reminds us of what St. Augustine said better, “Love is a precious pearl; if one does not possess it, all other things are of no use, and if one does possess it, nothing else is needed". Lourdes González de Ostos was born in Caracas, Venezuela on March 5th, 1954. She died in Canton, Michigan, USA on August 30th, 2026. She was preceded in death by her parents, Tirso Julián González Osío and Evangelista Mariche de González; her beloved husband, Gabriel Ostos Izaguirre, whom she married on March 4, 1976; and her siblings, Aura, Zoraida, Tirso, Nora, Alexis, Máximo, Mildred, and Marcos. Lourdes is survived by her children, Gabriel Ostos González (Chaxiraxi Castellanos de Ostos) and Jennifer Ostos-Salazar (Eduardo Salazar Vega); her grandchildren, Maria Gabriela, Miguel, Arantxa, Mateo, and Maximiliano; her siblings, Néstor Wilfredo González Mariche and Nereida del Carmen González de Pérez; as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews. A Funeral Mass celebrating her life and commending her to God’s loving care will be held on Friday, September 4, at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 44800 Warren Road, Canton. She will lie in state at the church beginning at 10:00 a.m., where family and friends may gather in remembrance and prayer until the Funeral Mass at 12:00 noon.
