Family Obituary: Mario DeSantis Jr. was born on February 18, 1967 in Dearborn, MI to Fernanda and Mario DeSantis, Sr. From an early age he always wanted to work in the family masonry business where he started working as a teenager. Coming from an Italian family, he loved gathering with family and friends. He loved fast vehicles: motorcycles, 4-wheelers, fancy cars, and big trucks. Whatever the vehicle type, it had to be red. Mario graduated from Crestwood High School in 1985 and attended classes at Henry Ford Community College. From 1993, he worked in the family business, DeSantis Construction, with his father and brother, Aldo, and was a member of BAC (Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers Union). Also, in 1993, he met his future wife, Michelle Tanasoff. The couple married July 11, 1998 and had their first child, Alexia (Lexi) on December 4, 2000. Three years later the family was complete with the birth of their son, Dylan, on October 24, 2003. Family always came first for Mario. He was a hard worker, but always made time to attend every school or athletic event with his children. Mario built the house of his dreams in Plymouth, MI in 2000. It was amazing to see what a good eye he had for planning – both architecturally and in landscaping. He finished the basement, including a full exercise room, kitchen, and fireplace, and planned and planted every plant and bush. Mario was very close to his late father; brother, Aldo (Dalia DeSantis); sister, Diana (Gary DiPaola), and nephews Remo DeSantis and Dario DiPaola. He loved and welcomed his late father-in-law, Jordan; mother-in-law, Rosemary; and brother-in-law, Tom (Cheryl Tanasoff) and nephew Jordan to the family circle. His Uncle Tony (late Anita Ceccarelli) and cousins Gina and the late Nat Ceccarelli were a close part of the family circle. Mario will be remembered as a kind, caring, and loving family man, relative, and good friend.
