Mary Burczyk

Mary Burczyk, age 77, of Northville, passed away peacefully at home on February 2, 2026. Mary was the beloved wife of John Burczyk, and a loving mother to Suzanne Zevalkink and Cynthia Salo. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Lily and Max Zevalkink, who brought her great joy. Mary was also a dear aunt to Kelly Randazzo and her daughter Kendall. Born on December 23, 1948, in Detroit, Michigan, Mary was the daughter of the late Virginia and Robert Leahy. She was an excellent student with a curious mind and an adventurous spirit. From an early age, she enjoyed swimming, fishing, and fencing, pursuits that reflected both her discipline and love of challenge. Her passion for learning and exploration later led her to earn her pilot’s license, a proud and defining accomplishment. Mary graduated from Marian High School in Birmingham, Michigan, Class of 1966, and went on to earn her degree from Hillsdale College in Hillsdale, Michigan, graduating in 1970. She married John Burczyk on May 20, 1983, in Plymouth, Michigan, beginning a loving partnership that endured for more than four decades. She enjoyed a long and successful professional career, culminating in her role as Treasurer for Hines Park Lincoln Mercury in Plymouth. Known for her diligence and integrity, Mary retired on April 1, 2005, after many years of dedicated service. In her leisure time, Mary found happiness in golf, card games, traveling, and entertaining, always enjoying the company of family and friends. She was known for her warmth, grace, and the genuine care she showed to everyone she met. A quote that held special meaning for Mary and reflected the way she lived her life was: “I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” — Maya Angelou A Memorial Gathering will be held on Sunday, February 22, from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM, at Vermeulen-Sajewski Funeral Home, 46401 Ann Arbor Road West (between Sheldon and Beck), Plymouth.
