Nancy G. Anderson August 27, 1942 – April 16, 2026 It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Nancy Anderson who passed away on April 16, 2026 in Canton, Michigan. Nancy was the loving wife of Michael for 57 years and the loving mother to her three daughters: Lynn Marie Anderson, Laura Sue Anderson and Karen Ann (Ami) Sardesai. She was the loving grandmother of Kareem Gharbia. Nancy was the beloved daughter of the late Thaddeus and Mary Grochowski, and dear sister of Ted Grochowski and the late Paul Grochowski. Nancy was born in Hamtramck and was raised in Detroit and has led an interesting life. She graduated from high school early and began college at U of D Mercy. Nancy majored in English Literature and Composition and later earned a Bachelor Degree in Liberal Arts, as well as a State of Michigan teaching certificate. Nancy’s teaching career spanned 40+ years, where she taught both full and part time, pre-school to 8th grade. She had also substituted in the Plymouth-Canton school district. After Nancy retired she became very active in Club 55+. Some of the activities were fitness classes, playing pinochle, participating with the Red Hats and she was the secretary of the Pioneers Social Group. She had also recently become a member of the Senior Advisory Council that met bi-monthly, where she represented her fellow Seniors. Nancy also loved traveling with her husband Michael, playing the piano and attending live musical theatre. Her all-time favorite entertainer was Elvis Presley and she loved to listen to classical music as well. She also volunteered as an usher at the Canton Village Theater for 12 years. Nancy lived by the Golden Rule: “Treat others the way you would like to be treated.” Visitation will be held on Friday, May 1, 2026, from 4 PM to 8:30 PM with a time of sharing at 6:30 PM at Vermeulen-Sajewski Funeral Home, 46401 Ann Arbor Road West (between Beck and Sheldon) in Plymouth, Michigan 48170. Memorial service will take place on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at 11 AM with a gathering starting at 10:30 AM at Geneva Presbyterian Church, 5835 Sheldon Road in Canton, Michigan 48187.
