Richard Casimer Swenskowski

Swenskowski Richard Casimer – May 18, 2026 age 75. Beloved son of the late Casimer and Elizabeth. Loving brother of Nancy (the late Gary) Marquette, Cindy (the late Walter) Zwolinski, and Kevin. Loving uncle of Scott (Lauren) Marquette, Chris (Jem) Marquette, Nick (Tina) Marquette, Erika, Kristina and Alexander Zwolinski. Dear great-uncle of Edison, Tess, Lincoln, Stella, Andrew, Kaitlyn, Elena and Daniel. Richard was a florist for 54 years. He worked at various flower shops for 2 years before opening his own flower shop, Wand Florist, in the Warrendale area for 22 years. Following that, he worked at Westborn Market in the floral department for 30 years where he developed deep friendships and gained an extended family. Richard was a member of the Discalced Carmelites Third Order for 41 years and developed a deep spiritual life attending Mass every day. Richard had many interests and hobbies throughout his life. His first business adventure was baking and decorating cakes for all occasions to help pay for his college. He played accordion in a polka band with his sister Nancy, and also played organ and piano. He was an avid gardener and completed the Master Gardener course at MSU. He applied these talents volunteering for a short period of time at the Henry Ford Estate gardens. Over the years he raised pheasants, quail, geese, doves, and chickens. More recently he belonged to the Society of Canaries and Finch Breeders of Michigan raising various breeds of canaries and helping at the society’s shows. Richard loved being surrounded by family and friends, and some of our happiest memories were made together at family gatherings. His absence will be deeply felt, but we are forever grateful and blessed to have shared our lives with him. Visitation Tuesday, May 26th 4 PM - 8 PM with a 7 PM Rosary at Vermeulen-Sajewski Funeral Home, 46401 Ann Arbor Road West (Between Sheldon and Beck) Plymouth. In state Wednesday, May 27th 9:30 AM until the Wednesday 10 AM Funeral Mass at Divine Child Catholic Church, 1055 Silvery Lane, Dearborn. Interment at Holy Sepulchre.
