Sandra Jean Salloum

Sandra Jean (Hayek) Salloum, aged 78, of Northville, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2024, surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Born to George and Mary Hayek in Dearborn on November 16, 1945, Sandy’s life was defined by her love of God and family. Sandy was preceded in death by her loving husband of 47 years, Alfred, her beloved daughter, Lisa, grandson, Gabriel, and brothers George Hayek and Michael Hayek. She leaves behind a life filled with love and cherished memories, upheld by her family and all who knew her. A devoted sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Sandy's legacy includes her sister, Patricia (Bill) Abdo, her children, George (Denise), Mark (Kelly), her cherished grandchildren, George (James), Joey (Tommy), Nicole (Shae), Jenna, Hayley, Julia (William) Smith, Andrew, Amber, Amanda, and Katherine. She is also cherished by her great-granddaughter Penelope, and a twin boy and girl who are on the way. Sandy was also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who carry on her memory. Sandy graduated from St. Alphonsus High School in Dearborn and dedicated her life to serving her family, which was her greatest joy. In fact, Sandy had a gift for making everyone in her life feel special and loved, whether it was a close friend, family member, or someone she just met. When it came to hosting a gathering for family or friends, Sandy was the best, making everyone feel that her home was their home! All who visited were welcomed with love, open arms, and plenty of food. As for cooking, she was a star pupil of her mother, mastering the art of Arabic cuisine and everything else under the sun. Everyone in the family craved her grape leaves and kibbe! Throughout her life, Sandy was an active member of several Catholic parishes, including Our Lady Good Counsel for the past 15 years. Her love of the Lord and her commitment to the faith was profound and unwavering, providing her with strength and comfort throughout her life. Sandy was also very active in community groups and activities, including Northville Newcomers. She also formed a card club with a group of friends, which has lasted for more than 50 years, while Mahjong became a recent passion. Quite simply, Sandy leaves behind a legacy of love and family which has been instilled for generations to come. Visitation will be held at Vermeulen-Sajewski Funeral Home, 46401 Ann Arbor Road West, Plymouth, MI 48170 on Sunday, April 28, from 2:00 to 8:00 PM. Sandy will be In-State on Monday, April 29, at Our Lady Good Counsel Parish, 47650 North Territorial Road, Plymouth, MI 48170 from 10:30 AM until the time of Mass at 11:00 AM. She will be laid to rest at a private family burial at St. Hedwig Cemetery in Dearborn Heights, MI.
