Sharon Goulet

Sharon Ann Goulet (Gaunt), age 89, of Livonia, Michigan, passed away on July 23, 2026. Born on September 4, 1936, in Detroit, Michigan, Sharon was the beloved daughter of James J. Gaunt and Mary J. Voss. She was the fourth of six children and carried the values of family, faith, and service throughout her life. Sharon graduated from Immaculata High School in 1954 before pursuing her nursing education at Providence Hospital School of Nursing in Detroit, where she graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1958. Nursing was more than a profession to Sharon—it was her calling. She devoted many years as the Head Nurse caring for premature babies, where her compassion and expertise touched countless lives. Later, she worked as a private scrub nurse for a Grosse Pointe ophthalmologist. Throughout her distinguished career, she earned high honors by passing the state nursing boards and took great pride in mentoring and training student nurses in the operating room. She retired in January 2003 after a lifetime of dedicated service. On August 31, 1958, Sharon married the love of her life, Robert W. Goulet, at Precious Blood Church in Detroit. Together they built a loving family and shared many happy years before Robert's passing. A devoted woman of faith, Sharon was a member of St. Clare of Montefalco Catholic Church. She also dedicated many years as a Girl Scouts of America troop leader, positively influencing the lives of countless young girls through her leadership and encouragement. Sharon embraced life with enthusiasm and joy. She loved golfing, bowling, knitting, sewing, gardening, tennis, traveling, playing cards, dominoes, and mahjong. Whether spending time with family or enjoying one of her many hobbies, she found happiness in bringing people together. Those who knew Sharon will remember her quick wit, warm humor, and the many sayings that became her trademark. Family and friends will always smile when recalling phrases such as, "I'm acting like I know what I'm doing," "Chicken on a hot griddle," "Are we having fun yet?" "You bet your sweet bippy," "Right church, wrong pew," "Every now and then a squirrel finds a nut," "When it rains, it pours," and "This too shall pass." Sharon is lovingly survived by her children, Mary (Brian) Duck, Rob Goulet, David Goulet, and Sherrie (John Taormina) Kosmas; her cherished grandchildren, Michael, Katie, Jackie, Alex, Allison, Connie, and Stephanie; her sisters, Eileen Damphouse and Pauline Womar; and many beloved relatives and friends, including Mary Hughes and JoAnn Loniewski. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert W. Goulet; her parents, James J. Gaunt and Mary J. Voss; her sister, Marlouise Gaunt; her brothers, Terry Gaunt and Fr. Jim Gaunt; and other loved ones who welcomed her into eternal life. Sharon's family will forever remember her unwavering devotion, compassionate heart, remarkable nursing career, steadfast faith, and the love she gave so freely to everyone around her. Her legacy lives on through the many lives she touched as a nurse, mentor, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Visitation Saturday, August 1st from 10 AM until the 10:30 AM Funeral Mass at St. Thomas a’Beckett, 555 South Lilley Road, Canton Michigan (South of Cherry Hill) Interment of cremains at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery will be on Monday August 3, 2026.
