First and foremost, Todd was caring and compassionate, which I appreciated given what I’d just experienced. He then took time to step through each of the details and made sure things were crystal clear with each point he covered. Though thorough, he was efficient with my time. My father had expressed his desire to be cremated. Accordingly, Todd narrowed the focus of our conversation to just covering cremation (he didn’t attempt to sell me on additional services and products). Given my experience I would highly recommend Vermeulen-Sajewski.

We thought my mom was going to pass a year ago, so we prepayed for her funeral (flowers, casket, funeral director, death certificates and such). Thankfully, She lived for another 14 months. When the time came, Vermeulen-Sajewski were such a great help with all of it. They were very sensitive and thoughtful throughout the process and even after. I would definitely recommend them.

Words cannot express how grateful I am to everyone at Vermeulen-Sajewski. They took such good care of my family and me. Between walking us through every detail while making funeral arrangements, the professionalism they showed during the visitation and burial, and the multiple follow-ups to check in with my family and me after the funeral, I would recommend hosting your loved one’s funeral here. We have a very big family and had many people travel from out of state and abroad and they had enough space for large groups of people and skillfully handled the logistical challenges of getting everyone from the funeral home to the cemetery. They’ve got a great group of people working here who are kind and very experienced. We felt very well taken care of.

When my mom passed away n Bridget came and got her to be picked up she was nothing but very sweet caring understanding n did alot for me. She ran around like a chicken with her head cut off n I've never knew her or ever used this funeral home ever. I apologize to everyone at the funeral home for the comment some dork of a family member posted on here to make them look bad they are a very good funeral home n I feel bad for what they did n none of it was true at all om recent comment. Can't say enough about Jim Vermeulen and his staff in Plymouth! It was an incredibly painful time for us and they took care of everything we needed. The staff was very kind and compassionate and they made our experience as good as it can be. I worked with Nancy for the most part and she was great. There were a couple things that needed to be resolved and she was on top of it. She was very patient as well and very honest. I am very grateful to her and also the rest of the staff for making everything run smooth. I highly recommend Vermeulen-Sajewski Funeral home to anyone having to go through this extremely sad time.

No one likes to plan funerals or details for when our loved ones pass, but when you have a funeral home and people that truly have compassion for you it makes all the difference. My mom and I arranged her cremation a year before she passed. I highly suggest pre planning. Everyone here has been so supportive in the journey of my lost parent. They reach out to you to make sure you know they are there to help even after the arrangements and everything's all done. I would give a million stars 🌟 if I could. Thank you for everything.

When my husband passed away, I called several funeral homes. Jim at Vermeulen was quick to respond and was by far the most professional and pleasant during difficult conversations. After I visited The funeral home to finalize arrangements I found everyone there to be caring, helpful and sensitive. I recently attended a funeral here and I was very impressed. The place is clean, nice and friendly staff. Today on a Sunday, the owner himself was there working and helping my best friend arrange her mother's funeral. He was friendly, knowledgeable and great to speak with. I didn't feel like he was trying to overcharge or anything of that nature. He answered all of our questions and made us feel like we were well taken care of! 10/10 for sure.

The staff goes above and beyond to offer a listening ear and offer support. i also want to thank Carol for taking time to go over the selection of memorabilia in selecting keepsakes of loved ones. I brought a friend in to get her cremation done and she had so much anxiety before and after Stan showed so much compassion and patience in explaining everything she left with a peace of mind . . I also highly recommend attending the grieving meetings offered once a month in Plymouth . They will make you feel like family and sharing stories is very healing❤️🙏.

The people at the Vermeulen & Sajewski Funeral Home have been extremely sympathetic and kind during the many funerals of my family members in the past 3 years. We've lost 4 people in that timeframe, my mother, 2 sisters and recently my oldest son. The people there were extremely helpful and not only sympathetic but empathetic as well. Even after the funerals they reached out to me to ask how I was doing and provided an emotional support option for continued care. I would definitely and wholeheartedly recommend this funeral home for your loved ones funerals as you will be treated with respect, and they will assist you in offering the best choices and options while keeping the costs down.

In trying to process the shock of the passing of my father, Vermeulen-Sajewski was there to support in so many ways. Caring, compassionate, patient, professional, flexible are just a few words, but I don't think those words are strong enough to do it justice. The entire staff was extremely helpful and there when we needed. They provided us with the many options that were available, many of which we were unaware. They even contacted my fathers previous employer to start all of the financial follow-up. They continue to follow up with information on groups and gatherings to assist in the grieving process. I can't say 'Thank you!' enough for helping me and my family navigate such a difficult life changing event.

I flew in from Austin, TX the day my father passed away. I thought it was a long-shot but asked if we could have his funeral in two days. Jim Vermeulen was absolutely wonderful and made it happen. Everyone we came into contact with was kind, caring, and professional. When you find yourself in a similar situation, this is absolutely the right choice if you want things done right. My family lost my dad in September. My brother and I took care of the arrangements so our mom wouldn’t have to. We went and met with Jim the next day and took care of absolutely everything! We had the times, dates, church , flowers, music, casket , vault, prayer cards….everything we needed. They did an amazing job with my dad. He actually looked better at the visitation, than before he passed away. The room for visitation was set up beautifully , and they kept track of all the flowers coming in. They even arranged to donate the ones that we couldn’t use and get the ones we wanted to the church. I’ve been back to the funeral home many times since then to get more thank you cards or copies of something. Everyone there are been kind, patient, compassionate, and extremely helpful through this difficult time. My family can’t thank all of you enough for everything you’ve done and continue to do for us. I hope it’s a very long time before we need your services again, but you will be the ones we call ❣️

At one of the toughest moments of your life, you seek comfort and help when have to make so many decisions at that moment. I am so glad they were there for us! We had a very tight budget and they worked with us gave many helpful suggestions and we had a beautiful funeral! They even touched based with us later in case we needed a counselor! This is the second time I've used the services at Vermeulen Funeral Home in Westland. The first time I was trustee of the estate of my dear friend. Everything was pre-planned in great detail back in 2005, and not needed until 2021. Every was great and the workers were so very helpful. My most recent experience was June 2023, when my dear dear husband passed away. Nothing had been planned, I was and still am an emotional mess. So thankful for my children and the wonderful people at Vermeulen-Sajewski Funeral Home in Westland. Stan, Carol, Debbie, Chris, Elizabeth just to name a few, they all are so helpful. They treated us as if we were their family. Always so compassionate, caring, guiding us in decisions that needed to be made. They all went more than the extra mile to accommodate and make such a difficult time easier for our family. Even though things needed to be explained more than once they didn't mind. Since the funeral they've been in contact with me several times to see how I'm doing and if they can be of help. It is comforting to me to know that they are but a phone call away. My mother recently pasted away and this was the first time I ever had to plan for a funeral. From the minute I walked in the door I was welcomed liked I a was a family member and immediately felt this is the place that I want to take care of my mother. The funeral home staff asked what I wanted and my mother's wishes after her passing. I let them know what her wishes were and how I would like things done. Without hesitation and absolutely no sales pitch they began the process. The funeral home team made me feel that without a doubt I had nothing to worry about during my bereavement. We had to do a small viewing for family that could not travel to my moms funeral destination on the other side of the state. We had a wonderful experience with this place. They made my mom look like she did before dementia changed her. She looked beautiful and natural and her hair was done just the way she would have done it herself. The visitation was perfect. The sudden and unexpected passing of our father left our family grief stricken and feeling ill-equipped emotionally to make all of the necessary arrangements that were immediately required. We have known the Vermeulen family for many years, so we placed a call to their funeral home looking to relieve at least some of the duties. During our initial meeting, they were patient, and calmly and thoroughly guided us through each step, and option to consider. Afterward, Jim and his staff took care of almost everything. They organized a pastor to preside over the service, and found a wonderful pianist and singer. Our father served in the Army, so they recommended and arranged for the performing of military honors during the funeral. Our family cannot thank the Vermeulen-Sajewski staff enough. Top marks on all categories for Vermeulen Funeral Home. At the top of the list are value and customer service. On customer service, they accommodated our request to transport our loved to the funeral home, a three hour round trip. Jim and his amazing team also creatively solved an issue with a state-imposed restriction on attendance. We were able to accommodate everyone who wanted to attend and also comply with attendance restrictions. Vermeulen's staff were attentive, compassionate, and understanding. They were patient and accommodating when we asked to extend visitation hours when things went longer than expected. All of the extra miles they ran for us were not reflected on our bill. They was wrapped into what Jim and his team consider "taking care of the family". It's also important to note that our family is from out-of-state. We had a choice to conduct the service at home but when our son passed away in Michigan, Vermeulen resonated with us and we're so, so very glad with our decision. You will be too!

I recently lost my Grandmother, who I was very, very close with. We were not only grandmother and granddaughter, we were best friends. So of course I wanted the best for her when choosing a funeral home that would grant my grandma’s final wishes. Vermeulen-Sajewski funeral home in Westland, Michigan treated me and my family with compassion and professionalism during this most difficult time. My grandma was a very classy and sophisticated lady. Being diagnosed with lung cancer, grandma was no longer able to get her hair colored or nails done. Before she passed, I promised her she would look beautiful for her funeral. Vermeulen-Sajewski funeral home made my grandma look just as she did before she was sick, coloring her hair and doing her nails and makeup. The obituary, flowers, clergy....everything was exactly how grandma wanted it to be. I highly recommend this funeral home.

Jim Vermeulen sat us down and spent what seemed an inordinate amount of time with us planning the funeral and burial giving us options coordinating with the church, cemetery, flower shop, etc. I wish our hospitals were run like this. Jim is the Quarterback who makes sure everyone on the team is performing. I cannot say enough nice words about the job he did for us. It's not every day that you run into a business that flat out performs their job flawlessly. I strongly recommend Vermeulen!

We visited another funeral home service prior to deciding on Vermeulen, and the difference in quality of service, attention to detail, kindness and compassion expressed in staff were INCOMPARABLE. From the beginning, it was clear how deeply he respected and empathized with our loss. Matthew greeted us at the door, asked questions about how our uncle passed, took careful notes of our preferences, what was important to us in the viewing and service, and made sure we were comfortable, at ease. He took such thoughtful care of our uncle and accommodated to all of our cultural funeral traditions. Years ago, my Husband and I decided to pre-arrange our funerals together, we chose the caskets and expressed our wishes of how we would like to be. When my husband was put into the LTC unit at the nursing home, my children and myself went to the funeral home and we were able to bring everything current price-wise and finalize it all, even able to order the headstone. the entire staff was so understanding. The work done on my husband's appearance seemed almost miraculous. He looked so natural 10 days after death-but the most incredible thing was the way that Vermeulen transformed his entire face, hair, eyelashes, etc. to how it looked before cancer and nerve death occurred. Having watched my husband deteriorate over the years, and later in home hospice, this was an incredible gift. My family and I are so grateful for that final image of the man we had once known.

I am so happy that I chose Vermeulen-Sajewski Funeral Home to have the service for my husband. They helped me with all of the arrangements, explained everything to me so that I could understand what was going to happen and what I needed to do. The people that prepared my husband did an amazing job of making him look so good and peaceful. Everyone who came to the viewing said the same thing. I know that the ceremony at the cemetery will be just as nice. All of the employees were so kind, caring and helpful at all times. No matter how many times I called to ask questions they always had answers. I would highly recommend this funeral home to anyone who wants to have the best quality funeral or cremation for their loved one. I felt that the prices were very reasonable and there were so many options for caskets, etc. They even helped me with my own flower arrangement for my husband. I cannot believe how accommodating Vermeulen funeral home has been for me and my family. From the moment I called them at 4 o’clock in the morning to advise them that my mom had just passed away, adding that I did not understand how the protocol worked between connecting the funeral home to the hospital. They took it from there. I met with Todd at 10 o’clock that same morning and we squared away the arrangements. They were very knowledgeable on everything from the death certificate to floral displays to music, to what type of urn, just everything. So understanding. So kind. So gracious. My mom exited with dignity and grace and it was all due to Vermeulen funeral home. They followed up with me after the service with texts and phone calls to make sure everything was going OK. They are concerned about your welfare and your state of mind. They have an amazing crew there. I can’t thank them enough.

Professional, Compassionate, Attention to Detail, Goes the Extra Mile for the Families. My Dad was a WWII Veteran and they helped us get Dad buried at The Great Lakes National Cemetery, secure a rifle unit from the Holly chapter of the VA to give him a 21 gun Salute and arrange with the Cemetery to give Dad a send off with full military honors. V-S even had the US ARM Insignia added to the inside lid of his casket and the US ARMY emblem applied it onto the exterior of the Hearst as he traveled to his final resting place in Holly. My Mom passed on New Years Day 2023 and they couldn't have done anything better for us. From the moment you get in touch with them, your burden is lessened. I HIGHLY Recommend V-S and their complete services.

My young son recently passed away and all of a sudden I had to make a decision about where to send his remains. I’ve passed this funeral many times on the way to taking my kids to school. It always struck me as such a classy building with a beautiful surroundings just outside the hustle and bustle of Plymouth. It was the natural choice. The funeral parlor or Director, Matt showed exceptional care and patience while we worked within our budget. Even with the Covid restrictions he gave us multiple options. We elected to opt for a small funeral which was absolutely perfect. What was really remarkable was just how well my son was prepared for visitation. He looked peaceful, happy, and most importantly just like I remember him. In short they did an exceptional job. I give this funeral home a full-5 star rating. Highly recommend.

Best funeral home in town. the intentionality, considerateness and care Matthew is taking to support our family is priceless. We visited another funeral home service prior to deciding on Vermeulen, and the difference in quality of service, attention to detail, kindness and compassion expressed in staff were INCOMPARABLE. From the beginning, it was clear how deeply he respected and empathized with our loss. Matthew greeted us at the door, asked questions about how our uncle passed, took careful notes of our preferences, what was important to us in the viewing and service, and made sure we were comfortable, at ease. He was so patient with us and answered any and every question we had, explaining each and every step of the process. He took such thoughtful care of our uncle and accommodated to all of our cultural funeral traditions. Because of people like Matt and others at Vermeulen, our family was able to solely focus on our own grieving, and for that, we are deeply grateful. Thank you to Matthew and all the staff at Vermeulen-Sajewski. I would recommend them time and time again.

Just this week we lost my mom to her battle with Parkinson's disease. Jim Vermeulen and his team were nothing less than stellar in their handling of our moms visitation and funeral plans. We could not have been in better hands. Jim answered all of our questions and fulfilled every request we had. I have two kids (4 and 6) and this was their first experience with a death in the family. Jim was so kind when we arrived he got down on their level to talk to them about why we were there, that we were celebrating grandma and so on. It was really wonderful and they did great after that! Not that funeral services are something we hope to utilize often, but I would recommend Vermeulen hands down over anyone else. We had my dads funeral here 22 years ago and I would say the customer service is second to none and has remained of the utmost quality over the last years, if not gotten better. #blessed #gratitude

We were so impressed with the service that we received at Vermeulen that we plan on prearranging for our father in the event of his passing. Our mother looked "absolutely stunning!!" Guest after guest commented on how beautiful she looked. We were so happy the original funeral home we called never answered the phone the night of her passing...a blessing in disguise!
